LEXINGTON, Va. — The Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team registered a program-record 28 goals, and senior attacker
Landon Shelley (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) tied the single-game assists record with six in a 28-1 victory over Guilford on Saturday at Watt Field.
The Generals (8-0, 5-0 ODAC) scored the first goal of the game just 16 seconds after the opening whistle, but then the Quakers (0-1, 0-1 ODAC) tied the game just under two minutes later. From there, the Blue and White controlled the contest, and scored the next 27 goals to run away with the victory.
For the game, W&L had 18 players total at least one point, 17 players register at least one goal and eight players notch multiple goals.
This is the ninth time (seven players) a W&L player has totaled six assists in one contest. This marks the second time Shelley has reached the total, as she previously had six assists in a 20-9 win over Lynchburg on April 13, 2019.
Along with Shelley's six points, sophomore attacker
Allie Schwab (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Harriton) had two goals and three assists for five points. First-year midfielder
Ginny Taylor (Madison, N.J./Madison) recorded four goals on six shots. First-year attacker

First-year attacker
Alex Petras (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) notched one goal and one assist, and senior defender

Janie Stillwell (Alexandria, Va./Episcopal), first-year midfielder
Julia Thomson (Larchmont, N.Y./Hackley School) and junior midfielder
Liv Truesdell (New York, N.Y./Convent of the Sacred Heart) all had one goal each.
The goals by Arrix and Murray marked the firsts of their collegiate careers. W&L had five players register four draw controls to lead the team and five players notch a team-best two caused turnovers.
The Blue and White held a 49-2 advantage in shots and led 28-11 in ground balls. The Generals also secured 27 draw controls compared to four for the Quakers.
First-year goalkeeper
Caroline Kranich (State College, Pa./Mercersburg Academy) started and played the first 20:15 to earn the victory. Junior
Sam Sunar (Montville, N.J./Mountain Lakes) saw 21:12 of action, and first-year
Stefanie Chiguluri (Fairview, Tenn./Harpeth Hall) played the final 18:33 and made one save.
Senior goalkeeper Kersten Daneau played the first half for Guilford and allowed 20 goals with six saves. First-year goalkeeper Zenna Carson saw the final 30 minutes of action and made 10 saves with eight goals allowed.
The 28 goals in a game breaks the previous record of 27, which had been done three times previously and most recently this season against Southern Virginia. The 27-goal spread against Guilford also tied the record for largest margin of victory, which was originally set in a 27-0 win at Ferrum on March 8, 2001.
The victory extended the team's record-setting home win streak to 25 games, dating back to March 17, 2018.
The Generals return to action on Wednesday, when they play at Roanoke at 7:00 pm.
