NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Fourth-ranked Washington and Lee scored six of the first seven goals of the second half to recover from an 8-7 halftime deficit in defeating Christopher Newport by a score of 16-12 in women's lacrosse on Saturday afternoon at the Jennings Family Stadium.

The Captains (2-2) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the opening 5:01 of the game, but the Generals (2-0) scored the game's next six goals to post a 6-3 advantage with 10:27 remaining in the first half.  First-year attacker Hannah Bishop (Bronxville, N.Y. / Bronxville) totaled three goals and one assist during the run, while sophomore attacker Allie Schwab (Bryn Mawr, Pa. / Harriton) notched a pair of tallies.

CNU recovered following the Generals' run and closed the first half on a 5-1 surge to carry an 8-7 lead into the intermission.  Bishop scored the Generals' lone tally in the CNU run over the final 10 minutes, while five different players found the net for the Captains, including the goal-ahead goal by junior attacker Zoe Dyer with just 23 seconds left in the first half.
