Lamendola & DiSibio Propel Generals to 94-88 Win Over Randolph

LEXINGTON, Va. — Sophomore forward Robert DiSibio (Sandy Hook, Conn./Newtown) totaled a game-high 28 points and senior guard Mark Lamendola (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) registered 20 points, eight assists, six steals and four rebounds to lead the Washington and Lee men's basketball team to a 94-88 victory over Randolph on Saturday at Holekamp Gym.

The game was tied, 65-65, with 9:45 left in the second half, but then a 10-0 run over the next two minutes broke the game open for the Generals (3-4, 1-1 ODAC). Senior forward Gus Wise (Winchester, Va./John Handley) ignited the spurt with a three-pointer, followed by a pair of free throws by junior guard Richie Manigault (Stewartsville, N.J./Phillipsburg).

After a Lamendola steal and pass, sophomore forward Jack d'Entremont (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Radnor) dropped in a layup, and then junior guard Jack Lewis (Rockville, Md./Sidwell Friends) capped the burst with a triple to push W&L in front, 75-65, with 7:28 on the clock. A layup by the WildCats (3-4, 0-2 ODAC) momentarily stalled the onslaught, but then two layups by d'Entremont sandwiched around a Lamendola three-pointer extended the Blue and White's advantage to 15 (82-67) with 6:09 left in the game.

Over the final six minutes, Randolph whittled the lead down, but the Generals hung on for the six-point victory.

The six steals tied a career-best for Lamendola, which he has done twice previously. He was one away from the single-game school record of seven. DiSibio shot 10-of-18 from the floor to total his 28 points to go with four rebounds. Wise had 12 points and seven rebounds, while d'Entremont finished with 11 points and seven boards.

Senior guard Evan Makle and junior guard Danny Bickey paced Randolph with 20 points each. Bickey also had eight rebounds.

The Blue and White finished at 52.9 percent (26-of-68) from the floor, while the WildCats made 33-of-71 (46.5 percent) from the field. W&L also had 19 assists compared to just seven for Randolph.

The Generals will break for finals and return to action on December 19 against Catholic at the Catholic Invitational.
