LEXINGTON, Va. — The Washington and Lee men's basketball team shot 66.1 percent (39-of-59) from the floor on its way to a 101-73 victory over William Peace on Saturday in Holekamp Gym.
 
The Generals (1-1) held a 30-27 advantage with 7:49 remaining in the first half, but then a jumper by junior guard 
Cheick Toure (Silver Spring, Md./Sandy Spring Friends School) and a dunk by junior guard 
Richie Manigault (Stewartsville, N.J./Phillipsburg) stretched the lead to 34-27.
 
The margin was down to six following a free throw by junior guard Beau Bryant with 4:45 on the clock, but a jumper by sophomore forward 
Jack d'Entremont (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Radnor) and a three-pointer by senior forward 
Gus Wise (Winchester, Va./John Handley) extended the lead to 41-30 with 3:39 left in the half. Over the final three minutes, the Blue and White stretched the advantage to 15, 52-37, by intermission.
 
The margin was 16 with 17:49 remaining in the game, but then a dunk by Manigault and three W&L free throws pushed the lead to 64-43 with just over 16 minutes to go in the contest. 
 
A pair of free throws trimmed the deficit back under 20, but then a three-point play sophomore forward 
Robert DiSibio (Sandy Hook, Conn./Newtown) and another dunk by Manigault saw the Blue and White's lead balloon to 24. The advantage eventually stretched to as many as 34 points before settling to the final margin of 101-73.
 
The Generals had six players score in double figures. DiSibio led the team with 23 points and five rebounds. He finished 7-of-8 from the field and 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. Manigault totaled 18 points and eight rebounds. He went 8-of-11 from the floor, including four dunks.
 
Toure tallied a career-best 16 points. Wise added 11 points, eight rebounds and five assists. senior guard 
Mark Lamendola (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) and d'Entremont each recorded 10 points. This is the first time the team has had six players in double figures since 2019.
 
William Peace (0-1) shot just 36.8 percent (25-of-68) from the floor and 31.4 percent (11-of-35) from beyond the arc. With the wide discrepancy in shooting, W&L held a 41-30 advantage on the glass.
 
Senior guard Tyrell Donolly Jr., led the Pacers with 16 points and five rebounds. First-year guard Rashod Rouse had 10 points and five boards.
 
The 66.1 percent clip from the field is the best for the Blue and White since shooting 69.9 percent (51-of-73) against Emory & Henry on January 23, 2008.
 
The Generals return to action on Saturday, facing Rose-Hulman at the Marymount Tournament at 3:00 pm.
