Baltimore, Md. — The Washington and Lee volleyball team recorded a .360 hitting percentage in a 3-0 victory over Ursinus on Saturday in a neutral-site contest at Johns Hopkins.
The Generals (15-4) notched 43 kills with just seven errors on 100 attempts to achieve their hitting percentage, while the Bears (3-10) totaled 19 kills and 19 errors for a .000 hitting percentage. W&L was never really challenged in winning the contest 25-10, 25-13 and 25-8.
Sophomore outside hitter
Sydney Heifner (Nashville, Tenn./Harpeth Hall) led the team with 12 kills on 19 attempts for a .579 hitting percentage. Senior outside hitter
Val Sokolow (Draper, Utah/Juan Diego Catholic) tallied seven kills and 11 digs.
Junior setter
Ashley Webb (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) was all over the box score with 30 assists, six digs, two aces and two blocks. First-year setter
Allie Buchholz (Portland, Ore./Jesuit) recorded a match-high 14 digs.
Junior defensive specialist
Caroline Gard (Naperville, Ill./Benet Academy) contributed 12 digs, four aces and four assists. First-year outside hitter
Avery Myers (New York, N.Y./Poly Prep Country Day School) had six kills on 10 attempts, while hitting .500.
Junior outside hitter Katie Cressman led Ursinus with six kills and six digs. First-year setter Rachel Bernard totaled 13 assists and eight digs.
The Generals face top-ranked Johns Hopkins later on Saturday at 5:00 pm.
