LEXINGTON, Va. — Junior forward
Freddie Tobeason (New York, N.Y./Groton School) notched her first collegiate hat trick to lead the 14th-ranked Washington and Lee field hockey team to an 8-0 victory over Bridgewater on Saturday at the W&L Turf Field.
Tobeason registered the first two goals of the contest in the first three minutes of the opening period. With 12:52 on the clock, Tobeason received a pass from senior forward
Stella Noels (Cambridge, Mass./Middlesex School) on the right side of the circle. Tobeason then took a backhanded shot that sailed into the left corner of the cage.
A minute later, Tobeason fired a near identical shot on the right side, that again found the left corner of the cage, for her second tally of the contest. Her third goal came with the game mostly decided in the third period.
With the Generals (9-0, 3-0 ODAC) holding a 6-0 lead, junior forward
Tess Muneses (Howard County, Md./Glenelg) carried the ball into circle from the center of the field. She lifted the ball over the congestion in front of the cage, and Tobeason deflected it into the right corner of the goal. With the three scores, Tobeason now has nine on the season, which leads the team.
W&L had five other players register a goal besides Tobeason. Muneses and sophomore forward
Allison Pitts (Reisterstown, Md./McDonogh School) each finished with one goal and one assist. Junior forwards
Peyton Tysinger (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) and
Alexis Parks (Arlington, Va./Washington-Lee) and first-year forward
Kate Ruffin (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy) all had one goal. Noels, senior forward
Grace Weise (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Agnes Irwin School) and first-year forward
Maddy Duggleby (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) each had one assist.
Senior

Abby Long (Kansas City, Mo./Pembroke Hill) split the goalkeeping duties. Amil played the first half and did not face a shot, while Long saw the final 30 minutes of action and made one save.
The Blue and White controlled possession throughout the game, leading in shots, 34-8, and penalty corners, 6-2. Senior goalkeeper Brooke Hamm played all 60 minutes for the Eagles (4-8, 1-2 ODAC), making 15 saves. Senior defender Claire Ashley also had a defensive save.
