SWEET BRIAR, Va. – First-year midfielder
Ann Riley Huber (Atlanta, Ga./Holy Innocents' Episcopal) tallied four points and accounted for three goals to lead the Washington and Lee women's soccer team to a 9-0 win over Sweet Briar on Wednesday.
The Generals (7-2-1, 2-1-1 ODAC) posted two quick goals in the opening 55 seconds of the contest, one on a header from sophomore midfielder
Louisa Bynum (Charlotte, N.C./Providence Day School) and the other from junior midfielder
Grace Wielechowski (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic). The two goals came just eight seconds apart, which not only marked a program record for the fastest two consecutive goals scored, but it is also tied for the third-fastest consecutive goals scored in NCAA Division III history.

Cameron Grainger (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Country Day), who assisted on the game's first goal, scored in the 22nd minute off a feed from junior defender
Brenna Wehner (Crosswicks, N.J./The Hun School of Princeton) to give W&L a 3-0 lead. Senior forward
Emily Leding (Little Rock, Ark./Pulaski Academy) closed the half with her first goal of the season in the 40th minute.
W&L went on to score five goals in the second half, spanning from the 70th minute to the 89th minute. Huber scored in the 70th minute and assisted on a score by first-year midfielder
Sarah Lathrop (Dayton, Md./Glenelg) in the 85th minute. Junior midfielder
Madison Sumatra (Brentwood, Tenn./Ravenwood) scored in the 75th minute, the team's sixth goal, while junior midfielder
Annie Martin (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) had a hand in each of the game's final two goals, as she scored in the 87th minute and assisted first-year midfielder
Gabrielle Ursin (Stanhope, N.J./Pope John XXIII Regional) in the 89th minute.
Huber, Sumatra, Grainger and Lathrop all posted one goal and at least one assist in the contest, as Huber and Lathrop led the quartet with five shots apiece. Lathrop and Ursin tallied the first points of their collegiate careers, while Sumatra and Wehner logged their first points this season. Senior forward
Madeleine Becker (Naperville, Ill./Benet Academy), who assisted on Sumatra's goal, led the way with 11 shots on offense and she put four attempts on goal.
Senior goalkeeper
Jasmine Furin (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne's-Belfield School) (1-0) earned the win as she played a scoreless first half to extend her consecutive shutout minutes streak to 605:01, the seventh-longest such stretch in program history. Sophomore keeper
Sydney Smith (Damascus, Md./Damascus) covered the second half in goal and made one save.
Sweet Briar (2-4, 0-3 ODAC) first-year forward Kaitlynn Rupert tallied both of the team's shot attempts in the game, putting one on goal in the second half. Junior goalkeeper Katelyn Meyer (2-4) took the loss after she allowed four goals and made nine saves in the first half. First-year Trista Cleaves gave up the five second-half goals and made 12 saves.
W&L took 58 shots in the game, the most since also attempting 58 shots in a 9-0 win over Randolph on September 12, 2007. W&L earned nine corner kicks and conceded none.
The Generals will return to the pitch on Saturday when they travel to Bridgewater for a 2:00 pm ODAC matchup.
