Weise & Tysinger Push No. 12 Generals Past R-MC, 7-2

LEXINGTON, Va. — Senior forward Grace Weise (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Agnes Irwin School) and junior forward Peyton Tysinger (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) each scored two goals to lead the 12th-ranked Washington and Lee field hockey team to a 7-2 victory over Randolph-Macon on Saturday at the W&L Turf Field.

The Generals (13-0, 6-0 ODAC) tallied the first two goals of the contest and junior forward Tess Muneses (Howard County, Md./Glenelg) had a hand in each. She assisted on a goal by senior defender Katherine Berman (Houston, Texas/The Kinkaid School) just 1:33 into the first and then scored six minutes later unassisted.

Berman notched her first goal of the season when she struck a shot across the front of senior goalkeeper Gatlin Snyder, and Muneses found the back of the cage when she lifted a shot over Snyder near the right post.

The Yellow Jackets (8-7, 3-3 ODAC) trimmed the deficit to 2-1 with 5:11 left in the opening period, but the Blue and White went on a 5-0 run over the next 35 minutes of play to put the game away.

Weise registered the first two goals of the run to extend the lead to 4-1 at halftime. Junior forward Kailey Fitzgerald (Chevy Chase, Md./Georgetown Visitation) notched the first tally of the second half just 2:13 into the third with a strike from the top of the circle.

Tysinger recorded the final two goals for W&L. She scored off a rebound on the left side of the circle with 10:22 left in the third, and then scored 48 seconds into the fourth off an assist from Fitzgerald.

The Generals controlled the game from the opening whistle, taking 46 shots in the contest compared to eight by the Yellow Jackets. W&L also finished with 16 penalty corners to R-MC's four.

With her two goals, Weise now leads the team with 12 on the season. Tysinger notched her fifth and sixth goals of the campaign.

Senior Sara Amil (North Caldwell, N.J./West Essex) played the full 60 minutes for W&L, making two saves. Snyder made 28 saves in 60 minutes.

The Generals return to action on Wednesday when they play at Eastern Mennonite at 7:00 pm.
