LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The 18th-ranked Washington and Lee women's cross country team took 29th out of 32 teams at the NCAA Division III Championship on Saturday at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park.
Second-ranked Johns Hopkins claimed the national championship with 125 points, top-ranked Washington University in St. Louis was second (138 points) and third-ranked Williams was third (168 points). The Generals totaled 695 points.
Junior
Katie Harris (Ashburn, Va./Rock Ridge) paced the Blue and White, finishing 155th out of 277 runners with a time of 23:13.80 on the 6k course. Senior
Julia Moody (Houston, Texas/St. John's School) claimed 163rd in 23:17.50, and senior
Katie Bearup (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley) finished 176th (23:24.00).
Sophomore
Sara Stephenson (Weston, Mass./The Rivers School) placed 213th with a time of 23:43.80, and sophomore
Avery Schiffman (New Vernon, N.J./The Pingry School) completed the scoring in 236th in 24:01.10. Junior
Didi Pace (Centreville, Va./Westfield) also finished the race in 251st (24:21.30).
Sophomore Parley Hannan of Ithaca won the individual national title, crossing the finish line in 20:53.80.
This concludes the best season in program history for the Generals, as they competed at the NCAA Championship for the first time. Earlier this year, W&L won its fifth straight ODAC title and claimed its first NCAA South/Southeast Region Championship.
