BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The No. 17 Washington and Lee women's soccer team was defeated for the first time this season, a 3-2 decision on the road against Bridgewater on Saturday afternoon to close the 2019 regular season.
The loss drops the Generals to 15-1-2 overall and 8-1-1 in the ODAC, while the Eagles improved to 11-6-2 overall and 7-3 in conference play.

Grace Wielechowski (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic) equalized in the 24th minute on a penalty-kick goal.
In the 34th minute, Bridgewater sophomore midfielder Hanna Randolph gave the lead back to Bridgewater when she scored on a penalty kick, and senior midfielder Sydney Ryan added the team's third goal of the game in the 77th minute.

Caitlin Barnes (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day) tallied her first career goal in the 87th minute to bring the score back to 3-2, but the Eagles held off the Generals for the final three minutes.

Lindsay White (Greenville, S.C./JL Mann) tallied a game-high eight shots. For Bridgewater, Ryan shot three times to lead the offense, while senior midfielder Catherine Haufe added two shots.
W&L sophomore goalkeeper
Grace Coombs (Boca Raton, Fla./Saint Andrews School) (13-1-2) suffered her first loss of the season, making one save in 90 minutes of action. Junior goalkeeper Sydney Davis earned the win for Bridgewater after stopping six shots in 90 minutes in goal.
For the game, the Generals outshot the Eagles, 22-11, with 17 attempts coming in the second half. W&L also earned seven corner kicks and allowed three to the Eagles.
The Generals have clinched the No. 2 seed for the ODAC Championship Tournament and will Ferrum in the ODAC Quarterfinals on Wednesday. The time of the game is yet to be determined.
