Brynne Gould (Boone, N.C./Watauga) totaled 17 kills and junior outside hitter
Kiera Borthwick (Northville, Mich./Northville) added 16 kills to lead the Washington and Lee volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over Hollins on Saturday in a neutral-site contest at Virginia Wesleyan.
The Generals (20-5, 7-3 ODAC) cruised in the first two sets, 25-10 and 25-15, but Hollins fought back and won the third, 29-27. The Blue and White regrouped, pulling out the fourth, 25-16, to win the match.
Gould recorded nine digs to go with her 17 kills. Borthwick contributed nine digs as well. Junior middle blocker
Courtney Berry (Charlottesville, Va./Western Albemarle) had 11 kills on 17 attempts for a .647 hitting percentage.
Sophomore middle blocker
Katy Blain (West Palm Beach, Fla./Benjamin School) totaled eight kills on 11 swings with two errors for a .636 hitting percentage. Junior outside hitter
Leah Green (Longwood, Fla./Lake Highland Preparatory School) contributed 10 kills.
First-year defensive specialist
Caroline Gard (Naperville, Ill./Benet Academy) tallied 15 digs, five assists and two aces. First-year setter
Ashley Webb (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) had 39 assists, three aces and three digs.
Sophomore outside hitter Tyler Sesker led Hollins (12-12, 2-8 ODAC) with eight kills and four blocks, while senior defensive specialist Amanda Mink tallied 15 digs.
The Generals play at Eastern Mennonite on Tuesday at 7:00 pm.
