W&L Women's Soccer Falls to Bridgewater, 3-2

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Junior midfielder Isabella Krider scored the game-winning goal in the 89th minute to help lift the Bridgewater women's soccer team to a 3-2 victory over Washington and Lee on Saturday at Bridgewater.

Bridgewater (13-3-1, 6-2) jumped out to a 1-0 lead at the 4:21 mark when senior forward Anna Sobus beat a W&L (10-3-1, 6-2) defender and scored an unassisted goal. The Eagles lead grew to 2-0 in the 10th minute when Sobus found senior forward Keri Rager, who buried a shot from the top of the box. BC took a 2-0 lead into halftime.

Junior midfielder Megan Engeland (Yardley, Pa. / Pennsbury) got the Generals on the board at the 48:26 mark of the second half after she headed the ball into the back of the net off of a corner kick taken by sophomore defender Emily Roche' (Ashburn, Va. / Broad Run).

W&L would even the score in the 81st minute when junior midfielder Sydney Abrisz (Chesterfield, Va. / Manchester) collected a loose ball in the box and placed it just past the hands of BC senior goalkeeper Hayley Talbott.

The Eagles game-winning goal came at 89:05 when senior midfielder Grayson Mathews found Krider, who fired a shot from outside the box that went just over the head of sophomore keeper Leeann Passaro (Upper Saddle River, N.J. / The Lawrenceville School).

For the game, W&L held a 13-9 advantage in shots and a 6-1 edge in corner kicks. Passaro played the full 90 minutes and made two saves for the Generals. Talbott also played the entire match in goal for the Eagles and made three stops.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Emory & Henry at 4:00 pm.
