BRIDGEWATER, Va. — Sophomore outside hitter Meg Guignon (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) notched a career-high 22 kills to lead the Washington and Lee volleyball team to a 3-1 ODAC win at Bridgewater on Saturday.

The Generals (10-1, 2-0 ODAC) held a 24-20 lead in the first set, but the Eagles (8-3, 2-1 ODAC) took advantage of three attack errors by W&L and evened the score, 24-24. With the set tied, 26-26, senior outside hitter Abby Mills tallied back-to-back kills to give Bridgewater a 28-26 win.

The teams were tied, 19-19, in the second, and then the Blue and White went on a 6-1 run, capped on a kill by senior middle blocker Mackenzie Shand (Saline, Mich./Saline), to win the frame, 25-20. The third was tied, 14-14, and then W&L scored 11 of the final 15 points to win the stanza, 25-18. In the fourth, W&L jumped out to an 8-3 lead and held on for a 25-20 victory.

Guignon totaled her 22 kills on 51 attempts with just three errors for a .373 hitting percentage. She also had 15 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Elly Cosgrove (Wilmington, N.C./John T. Hoggard) also had a double-double with 13 kills and a team-high 17 digs.

Junior setter Elena West (Roanoke, Va./Northside) had 38 assists and 12 digs, while first-year outside hitter Allison Webb (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) notched 11 kills. Shand contributed eight kills, five digs and five blocks. Junior defensive specialist Katie Volk (Lancaster, Calif./Quartz Hill) had 14 digs.

Mills led the Eagles with 15 kills and 15 digs, but also had eight reception errors. Sophomore setter Victoria Wilson recorded 10 kills and 10 digs, while junior defensive specialist Macon Frey had a match-high 27 digs.

The Generals played Meredith later on Saturday at Bridgewater.
