WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Washington and Lee wrestling team opened competition in the Centennial Conference with a pair of matches at McDaniel College on Saturday. 

The Generals fell to the United States Merchant Marine Academy by a score of 53-0, then dropped a 42-3 decision to McDaniel to fall to 0-8 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

Due to injury, W&L could not field a wrestler in any of the first three weight classes and the lone winner on the day for W&L was sophomore Zan Reed (Dallas, Texas / Highland Park), who posted a 10-6 win over McDaniel senior Scott Forrester in the 184-pound weight class.

Washington and Lee will return to action on Saturday when it hosts Johns Hopkins and NYU for a tri-match at 12:00 pm.
