DALEVILLE, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's golf program officially got underway on Saturday, as the Generals are taking part in the Hollins Invitational held at Ashley Plantation. W&L shot an opening round score of 372 and is in third-place out of three teams.
Hollins leads after the first day with a 332, followed by Sewanee at 345 and the Generals (372).
Individually, the W&L is led by first-year Sara Moir (Roanoke, Va./Hidden Valley), who is tied for sixth with an 84. First-year Rachael Wright (Roanoke, Va./North Cross) is tied for ninth with an 89, while first-year Nicole Kasica (Greensboro, N.C./Northern Guilford) is 13th with a 97.
First-year Lydia Barit (Paget, Bermuda/Middlesex School) and sophomore Elise Petracca (Manhasset, N.Y./Loomis Chaffee) round out the Generals' competitors in the event. Barit shot a 102, while Petracca shot 114.
Action continues on Sunday with the second round beginning at 8:00 am.
