LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's golf team fired a second day score of 346 to finish second out of three teams at the Generals Invitational held at the Lexington Golf & Country Club on Tuesday.
Hollins posted a two-day score of 351-341—692 to win the event, but the Generals' season-low score moved them ahead of Randolph-Macon for second place and was just five strokes off the pace set by Hollins on day two. W&L carded a 374 on the first day for a total of 720 overall. The Yellow Jackets finished with a 372-358—730.
Individually, Hollins' Elizabeth Cheng shot par on Tuesday to finish first with a four-over par score of 76-72—148. W&L first-year Sara Moir (Roanoke, Va./Hidden Valley) placed second overall after posting a score of 82-77—159.
First-year Rachael Wright (Roanoke, Va./North Cross) placed fourth with an 87-80—167, while classman Lydia Barit (Paget, Bermuda/Middlesex School) tied for 14th overall with a 102-93—195. Classmate Nicole Kasica (Greensboro, N.C./Northern Guilford) carded a 103-96—199 to place 17th and sophomore Elise Petracca (Manhasset, N.Y./Loomis Chaffee) finished 19th with a 109-114—223.
Washington and Lee returns to action on October 13-14 as it participates in the Wittenberg Pat Clouse Invitational held at the Springfield Country Club in Springfield, Ohio.
