BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Washington and Lee men's swim team dropped a dual meet with Johns Hopkins on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Blue Jays, 146.5-92.5.

W&L (8-4) had four individual event victories on the day, including two top finishes from junior Chris Washnock (Greer, S.C./Greenville). Washnock was victorious in the 200 back (1:56.16) and 200 IM with a time of 2:00.20. Also winning their individual events were senior Brandon Wilder (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond-Suffolk Academy) in the 500 free (4:49.92) and junior Brian Stirling (Skillman, N.J./Montgomery) in the 100 fly (52.07).

The Generals recorded a quartet of second-place finishes, as sophomore Wayde Marsh (Milford, Del./Salesianum School) recorded a time of 54.66 in the 100 back, first-year David Ireland (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) touched in 2:01.61 in the 200 fly and sophomore Rick Sykes (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) swam to a time of 21.57 in the 50 free. The 400 free relay squad of sophomore Tyler Gehrs (Alexandria, Va./St. Andrew's), Sykes, first-year Robert Knuth (Virginia Beach, Va./Cape Henry Collegiate) and Brian Stirling also finished second in a time of 3:14.20.

W&L returns to action on Feb. 5 as they travel to Blacksburg to take part in the Virginia Tech Invitational at 11:00 am.
