Generals Defeat Randolph Women, 55-46

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee limited Randolph College to only four field goals in the final 13:19 of the game in posting a 55-46 victory over the WildCats in ODAC women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon at the Warner Center.

Randolph (3-16, 2-14) jumped out to an early 10-4 lead at the 15:16 mark, but the Generals began chipping away at the WildCats advantage and eventually tied the contest, 16-16, at 7:25. However, RC then outscored W&L, 10-6, down the stretch to hold a 26-22 edge at the break.

Washington and Lee (11-9, 10-5) took its first lead of the game (31-28) at 16:15 of the second stanza when first-year guard Meghan Ingram (Greensboro, N.C./Ragsdale) drilled a three-pointer. Randolph regained the lead two more times over the next 5:24, but W&L finished the game on an 18-10 run over the final 10:51 for their sixth victory out of the last seven games.

The Generals were led by Ingram, who totaled 16 points, five rebounds and four steals. Senior guard Bethany Ridenhour (Westwood, N.J./Holy Angels) also added a season-high 16 points and seven rebounds. Senior forward Kara Nadeau (Oak Hill, Va./Oakton) chipped in six points, seven rebounds, four steals and three assists.

The WildCats were paced by junior forward Lindsay Cross (Asheboro, N.C./Asheboro) and first-year forward Kristen Blalock (Suffolk, Va./Portsmouth Christian), who registered 14 points apiece. Cross also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds and dished out a team-high four assists. Sophomore forward Michelle Brockman (Portsmouth, Va./I.C. Norcom) added 10 points and seven rebounds.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Tuesday as it travels to Emory & Henry for a 7:00 pm contest.
