W&L Women's Hoops Downs E&H, 62-55

EMORY, Va. - Washington and Lee jumped out to a 15-6 lead just 4:51 into the game and never trailed en route to a 62-55 win over Emory & Henry in ODAC women's basketball action on Tuesday evening at the King Center.

The Generals (12-9, 11-5) led 29-23 at the break and pushed out to a 37-23 lead just 2:37 into the second stanza on the strength of eight-straight points from sophomore center Felice Herman (Fairfield, Pa./Delone Catholic).

The Wasps (7-14, 5-11) chipped away at the W&L lead and eventually cut it to a four-point game (42-38) with 10:56 to play, but the Generals used a 9-2 surge to push back to an 11-point advantage (51-40) with 8:53 to play. E&H sliced it to a five-point game (60-55) with 44 seconds remaining, but could get no closer as W&L won for the seventh time in its last eight games.

Four Generals scored in double figures led by first-year guard Meghan Ingram's (Greensboro, N.C./Ragsdale) 15 points and five assists. Herman scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds, while senior guard Bethany Ridenhour (Westwood, N.J./Holy Angels) tallied 12 points and tied a season-high with four steals. First-year forward Rebecca Bolton (Pittsboro, N.C./Chatham Central) contributed her seventh double-double of the season, totaling 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Emory & Henry was led by Sarah Petty, who scored 11 points. Alex Lyons added 10 points for the Wasps.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday as it travels to Randolph-Macon for a 4:00 pm contest.
