LEXINGTON, Va. – Four Generals posted double digits in the scoring column led by first-year guard Rebecca Bolton (Pittsboro, N.C./Chatham Central), who registered her second double-double of the season with a career-high 29 points and 10 rebounds, as Washington and Lee defeated Lynchburg, 94-77, in ODAC women's basketball action on Friday evening at the Warner Center.
The Generals shot 50.0 percent (34-68) from the floor and 91.7 percent (22-24) from the foul line en route to scoring 94 points, the second-highest scoring output in program history.
The first half was tightly contested as the Generals carried a 41-35 advantage into the break. W&L pushed out to a double-digit lead in the early minutes of the second stanza and then used an 18-7 run to take a 78-58 lead at the 8:02 mark in cruising to the 17-point victory.
W&L shot 61.3 percent (19-31) in the second half and forced 26 Lynchburg (5-7, 3-4) turnovers in improving to 3-6 overall and 3-2 in the ODAC.
Bolton was joined in double figures by senior guard Bethany Ridenhour (Westwood, N.J./Holy Angels), who totaled a season-high 15 points and a season-high four assists, while sophomore center Felice Herman (Fairfield, Pa./Delone Catholic) registered 14 points and a season-high tying nine rebounds. First-year guard Meghan Ingram (Greensboro, N.C./Ragsdale) chipped in 13 points and three steals.
Junior forward Brittany Dahn (Richmond, Va./Deep Run) paced the Hornets with a double-double as she registered a team-high 21 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, while junior guard Dana Esposito (New Port Richey, Fla./Holy Angels) tallied 12 points and three steals. First-year forward Katie Crump (Burke, Va./Lake Braddock) added nine points and collected five boards.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday as it travels to Randolph for a 4:00 pm game.
