VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Washington and Lee committed 29 turnovers in falling to Virginia Wesleyan, 64-49, in ODAC women's basketball action on Tuesday evening at the Batten Center.
The Generals (2-6, 2-2) jumped out to an 8-3 lead in the opening minutes of the game, but 17 first-half giveaways plagued W&L's offensive attack as Virginia Wesleyan methodically pushed out to a double-digit lead and carried an eight-point advantage (33-25) into the halftime break.
W&L trimmed the Marlins' (8-2, 5-0) lead to four points (35-31) at the 16:04 mark, but VWC pushed back out to a double-digit cushion just minutes later. The Generals again made a run, cutting it to a seven-point margin (53-46) with 4:32 left, but the Marlins closed on an 11-3 run to put the game away.
