W&L Defeats Guilford, 67-56

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- First-year guard Meghan Ingram (Greensboro, N.C./Ragsdale) scored a team-high 18 points and set a new school-record for three-pointers made in a season to lead the Washington and Lee women's basketball team to a 67-56 victory over Guilford in ODAC basketball action at the Ragan-Brown Fieldhouse on Friday evening.

Ingram connected on three three-pointers in the game, all in the first half, and now has 48 on the season. She breaks the old mark of 46 held by Louisa Feve '06.

Leading 14-7 at the 12:12 mark of the first half, W&L (9-8, 8-4) went on an 11-0 run, capped by a trey from senior guard Bethany Ridenhour (Westwood, N.J./Holy Angels), to grab a 25-7 advantage and went into the break up 37-20.

The Generals shot 53.8 percent (14-of-26) in the first half, including 8-of-11 from beyond the arc.

Guilford (7-11, 6-7) opened the second half on a 16-6 run to pull within seven points (43-36) at the 10:50 mark. However, W&L scored the next six points over the next minute of play to push the lead back to 13 (49-36) at 9:50. The Quakers then used a 13-4 run to pull within four points at 5:40 before W&L gained control and went on to post the 11-point victory.

In addition to her 18 points, Ingram grabbed seven rebounds, dished out five assists and collected three steals. First-year forward Rebecca Bolton (Pittsboro, N.C./Chatham Central) collected her fifth double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Ridenhour added 11 points and five assists.

Guilford was led by senior forward Tracey Croner (Rockwell, N.C./East Rowan), who scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Junior guard Alexa Williams (Round Hill, Va./Loudon Valley) added 13 points, while first-year forward Alexandria Miles (Stockbridge, Ga./Our Lady of Mercy) chipped in nine points and five boards.

W&L returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Virginia Wesleyan at 7:00 pm.
