LEXINGTON, Va. - First-year guard Meghan Ingram (Greensboro, N.C./Ragsdale) amassed 25 points as Washington and Lee cruised to a 78-46 victory over Emory & Henry in ODAC women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon at the Warner Center.
The Generals (7-8, 7-4) used an 11-0 run midway through the first half to take a 30-15 lead at 7:33 en route to a 44-23 halftime advantage. W&L then extended its lead to as many as 35 points (78-34) in the second half in cruising to the 32-point triumph.
W&L held the Wasps to just 35.8 percent shooting (19-53) and forced 27 Emory & Henry turnovers.
Ingram's efforts were supplemented by sophomore center
Felice Herman (Fairfield, Pa./Delone Catholic), who registered her first double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard
Allie Long (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y./Hastings) added nine points and three steals, while senior forward
Kara Nadeau (Oak Hill, Va./Oakton) grabbed eight boards.
E&H (3-11, 2-8) was led by junior forward Alex Lyons' (Bristol, Tenn./Tennessee High) 15 points and five rebounds. Junior guard Baylie Snyder (Galax, Va./Galax) recorded six points and seven rebounds, while sophomore forward Tuesdee Woods (Gate City, Va./Gate City) and junior guard Sarah Petty (White Bluff, Tenn./Creek Wood) chipped in six points apiece.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Tuesday as it hosts Southern Virginia for a 7:00 pm contest.
