Lexington, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team swept its matches for a second-straight day as it wrapped up the W&L Invitational, held in the Warner Center, with a perfect 4-0 record. The Generals opened play with a victory over Southern Virginia, 25-14, 26-24, 25-9, and followed that up by defeating Marietta 25-20, 25-21, 25-21.

In the victory over Southern Virginia (5-4) the Generals were paced by junior outside hitter Rachael Phillips (Tampa, Fl/Tampa Prep) who totaled 10 kills, while senior right side Jessica Ulrich (Gettysburg, PA./Gettysburg) notched eight kills. Junior setter Kristi Stevens (Overland Park, Kan./Shawnee Mission So.) added 21 assists and sophomore outside hitter Marah Schmitz (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) chipped in 15 digs.

In defeating Marietta (5-3), senior outside hitter Laura Maurer (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXIII) led the Generals with 15 kills, while Phillips added 13 kills. Stevens once again paced the Generals with 25 assists, while  sophomore outside hitter Marah Schmitz (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) and Phillips added 13 and eight digs, respectively.

W&L returns to the court on Wednesday when it hosts Eastern Mennonite at 6:30 pm.
