Guilford Nips W&L Women's Basketball, 68-66

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Guilford junior guard Ann Seufer (Williamstown, W.Va./Williamstown) hit a go-ahead three-pointer with 1:10 remaining in overtime to lift the Quakers to a 68-66 overtime victory over Washington and Lee in ODAC women's basketball action on Wednesday evening at the Warner Center.

Seufer, who scored 10 points in the contest, also hit a pair of free throws with 57 seconds left in regulation to knot the game at 57-57. Washington and Lee had the ball and chances to win the game in the final seconds of regulation, but could not convert. W&L had one last opportunity with 0.3 seconds remaining as first-year guard Meghan Ingram (Greensboro, N.C./Ragsdale) nailed a three-pointer off an in-bounds play, but the shot was ruled to have been after the buzzer, sending the teams into the overtime session.

Ingram hit back-to-back three-pointers to give W&L a 65-60 lead with 3:41 left in overtime, but Guilford went on an 8-1 run capped by junior guard Alexa Williams (Round Hill, Va./Loudoun Valley) hitting 1-of-2 free throws with five seconds remaining. Senior guard Bethany Ridenhour (Westwood, N.J./Holy Angels) had a three-pointer to win at the buzzer, but the shot would not fall giving Guilford (3-3, 2-1) the victory.

Ingram led the Generals with a career-high 17 points and three steals, while first-year guard Rebecca Bolton (Pittsboro, N.C./Chatham Central) registered 14 points and a game-high four steals. Sophomore center Felice Herman (Fairfield, Pa./Delone Catholic) dropped in 10 points and was a perfect 4-of-4 from the foul line, while senior forward Kara Nadeau (Oak Hill, Va./Oakton) and junior center Kaitlyn Kamp (Bloomington, Minn./Lutheran) each grabbed 10 boards.

Guilford was paced by senior forward Tracy Croner (Rockwell, N.C./East Rowan), who notched 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while junior guard Joclyn Terry (Virginia Beach, Va./Bayside) registered 13 markers. Seufer tallied 10, while first-year forward Alexandria Miles (Stockbridge, Ga./Our Lady of Mercy) scored nine points and grabbed a game-high 18 rebounds.

Washington and Lee will now break for a winter hiatus and will return to the hardwood on Dec. 30 when they travel to Newport News Apprentice for a 7:00 pm game.
