W&L Volleyball Defeats Bridgewater, 3-1

BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team upped its record to 21-6 overall and 9-0 in the ODAC with a 30-26, 19-30, 30-25, 31-29 win at Bridgewater College on Saturday morning.

The Generals were led by sophomore outside hitter Laura Maurer (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXIII), who posted 15 kills and 11 digs. Sophomore middle blocker Kassie Bagley (Midlothian, Va./James River) notched 11 kills and three blocks, while senior outside hitter Ashley Hurt (Altamonte Springs, Fla./Trinity Prep) and sophomore right side Jessica Ulrich (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area) added 10 kills each. Senior libero Lauren Edmonson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) tied her own school record with 33 digs and freshman setter Kristi Stevens (Overland Park, Kan./Shawnee Mission So.) recorded 33 assists and 10 digs.

With the loss, Bridgewater fell to 23-3 overall and 6-2 in the ODAC.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Roanoke College for a 6:30 pm contest.
