W&L Drops Match to Lynchburg, 2-0

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The Washington and Lee field hockey team fell to Lynchburg College, 2-0, in an ODAC match at Lynchburg on Saturday.

Lynchburg (7-0, 4-0 ODAC) opened the scoring at 12:37 of the first half when Meredith Zukas' unassisted goal found the back of the cage. In the second half, the Hornets doubled their lead to 2-0 on an unassisted goal by Sara Ensley.

For the afternoon, the Hornets outshot the Generals, 17-6, while also taking 12 penalty corners to the Generals' four.

W&L (2-4, 1-1 ODAC) freshmen netminder Courtney Harrison (Richmond, Va./Collegiate Boys School) played all 70 minutes between the pipes, making nine saves.

In the Lynchburg cage, Joanne Yednock stopped five shots.

The Generals are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Roanoke for a 4:30 pm match.
