10/21/2026 9:08:00 PM

Box Score ASHLAND, Va. — Four different players found the back of the cage as the No. 19 Washington and Lee University field hockey team extended its winning streak to six games with a 4-0 victory over Randolph-Macon College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action Wednesday evening at Nunnally Field.

The Generals (10-3, 6-0 ODAC) remained unbeaten in conference play and recorded their fourth consecutive shutout. Margaret Scheurer and Anna Treese scored in the second quarter before Britty Page and senior Zoe Dolfis added goals just 1:02 apart early in the third. Madeline Lancione assisted on both Scheurer's opening tally and Dolfis' third-quarter goal.

Washington and Lee outshot the Yellow Jackets (8-6, 3-2 ODAC) by an 18-5 margin and held an 8-2 advantage in penalty corners. First-year goalkeeper Helenka Chodakiewicz made two saves to preserve the shutout as the Generals extended their scoreless streak to 240 consecutive minutes.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Washington and Lee controlled the opening quarter, generating three shots and the period's lone penalty corner. Randolph-Macon goalkeeper Valentina Ambrogi-Torres turned away attempts from Margaret Scheurer and Zoe Dolfis to keep the contest scoreless through 15 minutes.
  • The Generals broke through at 19:14 when Madeline Lancione sent a cross into the scoring circle from the right side. Margaret Scheurer connected with the pass and tapped the ball past the Randolph-Macon defenders to give W&L a 1-0 advantage.
  • Anna Treese doubled the lead at 28:47, settling a rebound following a save and firing a shot from the top of the scoring circle into the cage. The unassisted tally sent Washington and Lee into halftime with a 2-0 advantage and a 7-0 edge in shots.
  • W&L wasted little time extending its lead after the break. Britty Page collected a loose ball amid a scramble in front of the cage and finished the opportunity at 32:32 to make it 3-0.
  • Just 1:02 later, the Generals capitalized on a transition opportunity. Lancione connected with Zoe Dolfis, who finished the play at 33:34 to push the advantage to 4-0.
  • Randolph-Macon generated its first shot of the contest at 34:11 before Penelope Trageser forced Chodakiewicz into her first save at 35:23. The first-year goalkeeper added another stop on Trageser at 40:17 to keep the Yellow Jackets off the scoreboard.
  • The Generals continued to apply pressure throughout the third quarter, generating eight shots and five penalty corners. Ambrogi-Torres made two saves during the period to prevent W&L from extending its lead.
  • Randolph-Macon earned both of its penalty corners in the fourth quarter and generated two shots, but neither attempt reached the cage. Anna Treese forced a final save from Mia Laws at 57:44 as Washington and Lee secured its fourth consecutive shutout.
