OXFORD, Ohio. -- Washington and Lee sophomore Eric Ritter (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook) finished in eighth place in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 52.63 to earn All-American honors at the NCAA Swimming Championships on Friday evening at the Rec Center on the campus of Miami (Ohio).

Ritter's time of 51.34 in the preliminary round seeded him sixth for the finals and was also a school record. A year ago, Ritter just missed out on All-American status in the 100 Back as he placed 17th.

Ritter's final swim of the competition will come tomorrow when he competes in the 200 Backstroke.
