W&L Splits a Pair of Matches at the Emory University Invitational

ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Emory University Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Generals defeated Greensboro, 28-30, 30-18, 34-36, 34-32, 15-8, before falling to Catholic, 30-27, 31-29, 30-24.

The Generals' win over Greensboro upped their record to 13-2 overall. Senior middle blocker Lindsay Ruckert (Metairie, La./Sacred Heart) led the way with 21 kills and 17 digs. Freshman outside hitter Michelle Chastain (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier Prep) totaled 14 kills and 12 digs, while junior outside hitter Stacey Kimmel (San Antonio, Texas/Alamo Heights) registered 14 kills, 14 digs, seven aces and five blocks. Senior middle blocker Lee Charbonnet (New Orleans, La./Benjamin Franklin) added 12 digs. Freshman setter Jennifer Lux (Virginia Beach, Va./Cox) amassed 46 assists.

In the loss to Catholic, Ruckert totaled 11 kills and nine digs, while Chastain recorded nine kills and eight digs. Kimmel chipped in with eight kills and eight digs. Lux contributed 30 assists.

Washington and Lee (13-3) will return to action on Tuesday when it hosts Randolph-Macon Woman's College at 6:30 pm in the Warner Center.
