LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men's and women's swimming teams were both defeated by Johns Hopkins on Saturday afternoon in Lexington, Va. Hopkins took a 163-93 victory against the men's squad, while the W&L women fell, 170-70.
The W&L men (6-2) were led by freshman Eric Ritter (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook), who placed first in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 55.68. Sophomore Brett Burns (Atlanta, Ga./The Westminster Schools) also took home a victory in the 50 Freestyle (22.87).
On the women's side, W&L (3-6) was paced by Michelle Moore (Houston, Texas/St. Agnes Academy), who won the 100 Backstroke in a time of 1:06.22.
Both squads will return to action on Friday, Jan. 26, as the Generals host Randolph-Macon at 6:00 pm.
