Josh Williamson serves as the Director of Athletic Training Services & Sports Performance. In total, he has spent 20 years with the Generals, beginning his career as an assistant athletic trainer in 2004. He was promoted to associate athletic trainer in 2005-06 and to head athletic trainer before the 2006-07 school year. In 2019, he was promoted again to his current role as Director of Athletic Training Services & Sports Performance.

Williamson joined W&L after serving as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at DePauw University, where he worked with various sports, served as a teaching assistant, and supervised student athletic trainers.

A native of Robinson, Ill., Williamson holds a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training (2003) and a Master of Science in Athletic Training (2004) from Indiana State University. He earned a Doctor of Athletic Training degree from the University of Idaho in 2017.

He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers' Association, and the Virginia Athletic Trainers' Association. Williamson is certified by the NATA-BOC and the American Sports Education Program and is an American Red Cross certified CPR and First Aid instructor.
