Christine Clancy was the fifth W&L head women's basketball coach and held the role from 2012-13 through 2023-24. In addition, Clancy served as the department as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Physical Education for two academic years.

Under her leadership, the W&L women’s basketball program saw some of the finest moments and seasons in its history, with the 2023-24 team solidifying itself as the most successful squad in program annals. The 2023-24 team set program records for wins (29) and winning percentage (.906), among a myriad of other statistical high marks, while claiming the program's second straight and third overall Old Dominion Athletic Conference championship. The Generals' postseason run was then highlighted by serving as site hosts for the first time in program history and the program's first-ever trip to the national quarterfinals.

The 2023-24 season marked the third consecutive campaign that Clancy’s Generals broke the single season wins and winning percentage records, after the 2022-23 team went 22-7 (.759) overall after the 2021-22 team went 20-7 (.741) overall.

With a 190-116 record across her first 12 seasons leading the Blue and White, Clancy has posted seven consecutive winning seasons with a 130-47 (.734) record in that span. The Generals have also won 13 or more ODAC games in five consecutive full seasons, with a program-record 17-1 ODAC mark in 2023-24 highlighting a total conference record of 49-5 (.907) over the last three seasons.

Individually at W&L, Clancy is a two-time ODAC Coach of the Year (2021-22, 2022-23), and she has helped her players claim 24 All-ODAC citations, five all-region awards and five All-America citations, in addition to the 2023 D3hoops.com National Rookie of the Year in Mary Schleusner ’26. Clancy has also coached five ODAC Players of the Year, two ODAC Rookies of the Year and three ODAC Scholar Athletes of the Year.
