Mike Singleton was named the ninth head coach in the history of the W&L men’s soccer program ahead of the 2014 season. The 2023 campaign will mark his 10th at the helm.

Under Singleton’s guidance, the W&L men’s soccer program has emerged as a national powerhouse in Division III. Singleton’s Generals own an overall record of 143-35-26 (.765) in his 10 seasons, including a 73-10-10 (.839) mark in ODAC play, both of which are all-time program-best winning percentages. The Generals have won four ODAC championships, made the NCAA Tournament in eight straight seasons and have appeared in the national semifinals twice.

The 2021 season was arguably the finest season in program history, as the team went 18-2-2 and made it to the national semifinals for the first time in program history. The team was also ranked No. 1 in Division III by the United Soccer Coaches for most of the season and set the program record for goals scored in a season (70).

Individually at W&L, Singleton is a five-time ODAC Coach of the Year, with he and his staff receiving the top coaching honor in the region by the United Soccer Coaches three times. He has helped his players to 70 All-ODAC citations, 31 All-Region honors and seven All-America awards, in addition to six ODAC Player of the Year accolades, two ODAC Rookie of the Year selections and two ODAC Scholar Athlete of the Year nods.

Academically, both of the program’s all-time NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Elite 90 award winners have come during Singleton’s tenure, plus two College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-Americans, six United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Americans and 18 United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region students.
