    Volunteer Assistant Coach
Sal Iaria is in his first season as a volunteer assistant coach on the Washington and Lee men’s lacrosse coaching staff in 2024.
 
Iaria joins the Generals after most recently serving as a volunteer assistant at Colorado Mesa University. While there, Iaria assisted in coaching and managed player development, with a focus on the offensive unit, in addition to game planning, scouting and recruiting. Prior to that, Iaria worked as a private coach out of Bainbridge Island, Wash., where he created training programs for players across all positions and worked with athletes to grow their skillsets.
 
Prior to making the transition to the Colorado Mesa coaching staff, Iaria competed for the Mavericks in 2023 as a graduate student, where he helped the team to a 16-2 overall record and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference title. He tallied 31 points on nine goals and 22 assists, plus 12 ground balls and three caused turnovers.
 
Iaria earned his Bachelor of Science degree in applied economics from the University of Vermont in 2022, where he was a three-year member of the men’s lacrosse team. He helped the Catamounts win the first conference championship in program history in 2021, which also marked the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. Individually, Iaria made the 2019 America East All-Rookie Team, and he ended his undergraduate career with 33 points on 14 goals and 19 assists.
 
While studying and competing at UVM, Iaria also worked as an assistant coach at 802 Lacrosse in Burlington, where he taught lacrosse fundamentals to inexperienced athletes, planned trips and accompanied the team to tournaments.
