Brian Smith

Brian Smith is in his eighth year as an assistant baseball coachat Washington and Lee. Over his first seven seasons, the Generalshave produced a 125-112 (.527) overall record and six berths in theODAC Tournament.   

In 2009, W&L won its first-ever ODAC Championship and madethe program's first trip to the NCAA Tournament. The conferencechampionship was just the second in the 102-year history of W&LBaseball.

Smith arrived at W&L in the summer of 2006 after coachingone season at Maryville College in Tennessee. Prior to joining theMaryville staff, he spent two seasons as the graduate assistant atDefiance College, while also earning his master of arts ineducation.

A graduate of Tiffin University with a bachelor's degree inbusiness management, Smith was a four-year letterwinner as apitcher for the Dragons. He was one of the team's relievers andmade a few starts during his collegiate pitching career.

Smith has six years of umpiring experience and is progressingtoward OHSAA certification. He was also a coach for the NorthCanton 18-and-under Summer team in 2002 and 2003.
