BRUNSWICK, Maine – Three Generals shot 1-over par or better on Sunday, as the Washington and Lee women's golf team moved up two spots on the team leaderboard to finish in sixth place at the Polar Bear Shootout.

FINAL TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL LEADERS:

• Middlebury won the team title for the weekend thanks to a 1-under 291 on Sunday to bounce up from second place entering the day. Bowdoin claimed second and finished five shots behind Middlebury after a second round 295. Amherst rounded out the top three, matching Bowdoin's 3-over as a team for the day to finish at 11-over for the weekend.
• Wesleyan's Amanda Phillips and Middlebury's Season Wei tied for first at 3-under for the tournament, but it was Wei who had the better second round at 1-under (72). Abby Kim (Amherst) and Hailey Lim (Bowdoin) tied for third at 2-under, while Zorah Williams (Trinity [Conn.]) and Shanya Arasu (Hamilton) tied for fifth (E).
• The Generals entered the day in a tie for eighth place, but used a 9-over (301) to move up two places and finish in sixth place. The team's 9-over second round was tied for the fifth best score on Sunday.

W&L ROUND 2 PLAYER SUMMARIES:

• Sophomore Toral Bhatt had the best second round among Generals on Sunday with an even-par 73. She sank a team-best five birdies on the day, which came across a 10-hole stretch from Nos. 4-13. Bhatt was also 2-under (36) on the front nine to tie for 19th individually.
• First-year Kelsey Sciacca had the best overall finish among Generals, tying for 11th place (+3) after a second-round 1-over (74). Sciacca had two birdies on the day and shot an even-par 35 on the back nine.
• Sophomore Mackenzie Cline matched Sciacca's 1-over on Sunday to tie for 34th overall at 9-over. Cline carded one birdie and eight pars on the front nine (37), along with seven more birdies on the back nine. Cline shot 2-under (74) on the front nine across both rounds.
• Sophomore Bella Scucchi and junior Berkeley Bundy tied for 40th at 11-over par for the weekend. Scucchi sank two birdies and was 7-over on Sunday, while Bundy had one birdie and was 5-over (78) for the day.
• Sophomore Morgan Maddox rounded out the Generals competing with a 15-over on Sunday to finish tied for 63rd at 17-over for the tournament.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• The Generals were sixth at the Polar Bear Shootout in par-3 average (3.40), tied for seventh in par-4 average (4.24) and tied for eighth in par-5 average (5.14).
• W&L also tied for the third-most pars (106) and eighth-most birdies (21) in the field.
• Bhatt ranked among the leaders in par-4 scoring, as she tied for third with four other players in par-4 scoring (3.94). She also tied for the seventh-most birdies (7).

UP NEXT:
The Generals will be back in action September 28-29 at the Tartan Invitational on the Shepherd's Rock Course at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. The team will play 36 holes on the first day and 18 on the second day.
