Generals Extend ODAC Dominance with Commissioner’s Cup Sweep

FOREST, Va. — Washington and Lee University once again finished atop the Old Dominion Athletic Conference standings in 2025-26, claiming the Dan Wooldridge Overall Champions Cup, the ODAC Men's Commissioner's Cup and the ODAC Women's Commissioner's Cup for the 18th time in league history.

The Generals extended their conference-record totals with their 30th overall and 24th consecutive Wooldridge Cup, 26th overall and 23rd straight women's cup and 24th overall men's cup.

Washington and Lee put together another dominant year across all three sports seasons, combining for a 228-86-9 overall record (.720), a 119-25-2 ODAC record (.822) and a 128-18-6 home record (.862). The Generals also totaled 13 ODAC team championships, 19 NCAA Tournament appearances and 30 All-America citations during the 2025-26 campaign. 

In the final Wooldridge Cup standings, W&L earned 231.0 of a possible 254.0 points for a .909 rating, marking the third-highest rating in ODAC history. Lynchburg finished second at .810, while Randolph-Macon placed third at .736.

The Generals posted a .950 rating in the women's standings after collecting 122.5 of a possible 129.0 points. Lynchburg finished second at .782, followed by Randolph-Macon at .758.

Washington and Lee also reclaimed the men's cup with a .868 rating (108.5-of-125.0), edging Lynchburg's .843 mark. Randolph-Macon finished third at .713.

W&L's success was highlighted by conference championships in men's and women's cross country, women's soccer, volleyball, men's and women's swimming, women's indoor track and field, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's tennis and women's outdoor track and field. 

The fall season saw the Generals win four ODAC championships, while the men's cross country team captured the NCAA South Regional title and posted the best NCAA finish in program history with a 20th-place result at the national championship meet. Women's soccer advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16, while volleyball secured its third straight ODAC title and another NCAA Tournament appearance. 

During the winter season, women's basketball produced one of the top campaigns in school history with a 31-1 overall record, an NCAA Quarterfinal appearance and National Player of the Year honors for Mary Schleusner. Men's and women's swimming each claimed a fifth consecutive ODAC championship, while women's indoor track and field repeated as conference champions. 

The Generals added five more ODAC titles during the spring season, including championships in men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, men's tennis, women's tennis and women's outdoor track and field. Women's lacrosse captured its 16th consecutive ODAC championship, while women's tennis advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the first time since 2021. Men's golf also turned in one of the top postseason performances in program history, with Jonathan McEwen finishing as the NCAA Division III national runner-up after repeating as ODAC Golfer of the Year. 

Washington and Lee led the conference with nine women's sports earning at least a share of the top point total in league standings, while the Generals also topped the men's standings in cross country, lacrosse, swimming and tennis.

Four programs remain in postseason competition, with women's golf and qualifiers from women's tennis and men's and women's track and field set to compete at their respective NCAA Championships.
