PALM DESERT, Calif. -- The eighth-ranked Washington and Lee University women's golf team is headed to the Golden State for this season's NCAA Division III Championship tournament, with play running from May 19-22 at Desert Willow Golf Resort.

The Generals secured an at-large berth into the 34-team field which was announced by the NCAA on May 11 and head to California for the four-day championship event. The 72-hole NCAA championship includes 34 teams and six individuals competing in both team and individual formats. After 36 holes, the field will be cut to the top 15 teams and the top six individuals not on advancing teams.

Jane Hopkinson-Wood
We’re excited for the opportunity to compete at Desert Willow Golf Resort and represent the university on the national stage. This team has embraced every challenge this season, competing against the best in the country while staying committed to the process and to one another. I’m incredibly proud of the way this group has stayed consistent in our approach and how they have represented our program all year long.

As we head into the national championship, our focus remains the same: continuing to grow, staying rooted in who we are, and never counting ourselves out. I’d be remiss if I didn’t recognize our captain, Julia. Her leadership, character, and consistency have left a lasting impact on this program and helped shape our team’s culture. She has meant so much to this group, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to share this experience with her one last time.
