Bhatt, No. 8 W&L leads ODAC Championship through opening round

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – First-year Toral Bhatt and the No. 8 Washington and Lee women's golf team completed Round 1 of the 2026 ODAC Championships on Sunday leading their respective leaderboards.
 
COURSE STATS:

TEAM & INDIVIDUAL LEADERS THRU ROUND 1:
  • The Generals are the team leaders after 18 holes of play with a 12-over score of 300. No. 12 Randolph-Macon is three shots behind W&L for second place, while No. 36 Lynchburg sits in a distant third at 29-over (317).
  • Bhatt is the individual leader after an even-par 72 on Sunday. Morgan Mussatt (RMC) trails Bhatt by one shot for second place, Grace Saunders of Lynchburg is third at 2-over (74), while W&L first-year Bella Scucchi is in fourth at 3-over (75).
W&L ROUND 1 PLAYER SUMMARIES:
  • Bhatt played a strong first round, going bogey-free across her first 15 holes. She was 2-under on the front 9 thanks to a pair of birdies, with an additional birdie on the back 9.
  • Scucchi's 3-over 75 ended on a strong note as she birdied the final hole of the round. Scucchi was even on the front 9 and had two birdies on her card for the day.
  • Sophomore Berkeley Bundy is tied for fifth place at 4-over (76), and she especially settled in from the fourth hole on. She was 1-under on the back 9 with two birdies and was only 1-over par over the final 15 holes.
  • First-year Mackenzie Cline completed the team scorers for the Generals. She is tied for seventh place on the leaderboard at 5-over par. She had one birdie, 12 pars and was 1-over par on the front 9.
  • Senior Julia Haetzel rounded out the W&L lineup with a 6-over 78 in the opening round to sit in a tie for 11th. Haetzel sank three birdies and posted a 1-over on the front 9.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • The Generals posted the best par-3 and par-4 averages on Sunday at 3.05 and 4.26, respectively. They were second in par-5 average at 5.20, four total strokes behind Randolph-Macon.
  • W&L is tied with Lynchburg for most birdies through the opening round (11), while the Generals led all teams with 55 pars made. The Generals also had the fewest bogeys (20) and second-fewest doubles+ (4) on Sunday.
  • Scucchi tied with Cheyenne Krupp (VWU) for the best par-3 average in the opening round at 2.75, while Scucchi and Bhatt are tied with Lynchburg's Gabbie Hollberg for the best par-4 average (4.10).
  • Cline and Bhatt both shot even on par-3s for the day, tied for third, with Bundy tied for ninth in that category one shot behind. Bundy also tied for eighth in par-4 average (4.30) and Haetzel is tied for 10th on par 4s at 4.40.
  • Bhatt and Haetzel are in a three-way tie for third-most birdies (3), with Scucchi among the leaders in pars (13). Both Bhatt and Cline made par 12 times to tie for fourth.
UP NEXT:
The second round of the 2026 ODAC Championship will get underway at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, with Haetzel slated to tee off first for W&L at 11:50 a.m.
