No. 11 Women's Golf remains among top teams after Day 2 at Jekyll Island

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – First-year Toral Bhatt remained in the Top 15 after Saturday's second round at the Jekyll Island Invitational, while the Washington and Lee women's golf team dropped just one spot to sixth on the team leaderboard.
 
COURSE STATS:

  • Total Average Score: 81.07 (120 rounds)
  • Round 2 Average Score: 80.76 (114 rounds)
TEAM & INDIVIDUAL LEADERS THRU ROUND 2:
  • Five of the Top 6-ranked teams in Division III occupy the top-five spots on the team leaderboard. No. 6 Amherst moved up two spots to take the team lead after shooting a 9-over (297) on Saturday. The Mammoths lead the field at 23-over (302-297—599).
  • No. 3 NYU shot the best team round of the day at 8-over (296), moving up one spot in a tie for third overall (305-296—601) with No. 1 Emory (295-306—601).
  • No. 2 Carnegie Mellon held in second place with an 11-over (299) in the second round, with No. 4 Pomona-Pitzer (308-297—605) completing the Top 5.
  • The Generals carded a 20-over par score of 308 on Saturday to move down one spot. They remain six shots ahead of No. 10 Redlands and 11 shots up on No. 9 Randolph-Macon.
  • Amanda Zheng (Emory) continues to lead on the individual leaderboard, as she logged a second-round 4-over (76) for a two-day score of 144 (E). Sonia Hao (NYU), Cecilia Jia (CMU) and Alisa Ching (CMS) are all tied for second, just two shots behind Zheng.
W&L ROUND 2 PLAYER SUMMARIES:
  • Bhatt sank a W&L-best four birdies on Saturday to go 3-over (75) for the day. Bhatt was even on the front nine and moved up to 13th place on the individual leaderboard with a 36-hole score of 151 (76-75).
  • Sophomore Berkeley Bundy tied Bhatt at 3-over for the day and made the biggest jump up the leaderboard among Generals, moving from 50th to 28th. Bundy shot a 1-under 35 on the front nine thanks to one birdie and eight pars.
  • First-year Mackenzie Cline duplicated her first round 6-over with another 78 on Saturday with one birdie on her card. She and senior Julia Haetzel are now tied for 33rd at 12-over par (156), after Haetzel went 8-over in round two with 11 pars.
  • First-year Bella Scucchi finished out the round with a 10-over to move to 14-over through 36 holes of play. Scucchi birdied the par-4 ninth hole to begin her round.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • The Generals are tied for the fourth-best par-4 scoring average in the field at 4.30 with Emory. They are also tied for seventh with Denison in par-3 scoring (3.33) and ninth in par-5 scoring (5.33).
  • W&L has the second-most pars in the field with 99, and they are tied for the 10th-most birdies with 17.
  • Bundy is tied for the third-best par-3 scoring average at 2.88 (-1), which is just one stroke off the leaders. Bundy also has the second-most pars (26) for the tournament, while only four players in the 120-player field have fewer bogeys than Bundy.
