Hedgemon Secures First Team All-America Honors, Evans Earns Second Team Laurels

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Seniors Bailey Hedgemon and Jesma Evans of the Washington and Lee University women's track and field team earned All-America honors with Hedgemon securing First Team laurels while Evans garnered Second Team honors.

Hedgemon, who was seeded 14th in the field heading into the national meet, earned First Team All-American honors after finishing fifth in the weight throw. She fouled on her first attempt before recording a program-record mark of 18.07m (58'-02.50"), which secured her podium finish. Hedgemon is the first women's track and field student-athlete to earn national honors in the weight throw while also earning the second-highest finish at the Indoor National Championships in program history.


Evans secured All-American honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), garnering Second Team honors in the 400m. Evans was seeded 20th in the field heading into the prelims before resetting her own program record with a time of 56.24s to finish in 11th place.
