Women’s Track & Field Wraps Up VMI Winter Relays

LEXINGTON, Va. - The Washington and Lee University women's track and field team posted four new updates to the program's top ten list on the final day of the VMI Winter Relays.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • Reese Brown and Amelia Weenig both competed in the mile this afternoon. Brown turned in a third-place finish after crossing the line in a personal-best time of 5:10.50, which also ranks ninth in program history. Weenig clocked a time of 5:20.09 to finish ninth.
  • Jesma Evans recorded a seventh-place finish in the 400m, posting a time of 57.87s. Annabelle Sutliff etched her name into the program record book with the fifth-best time in program history, crossing the line in 59.72s. Ana Hodneland also earned a top-10 mark, finishing in 1:01.29, the ninth-fastest time in program history.
  • Brianna Breyault was the lone General in the 3,000m, clocking a season-best time of 11:10.78 to finish ninth. Mackenzie Morante added an eighth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 10.57m (34'-08.25").
  • Bailey Hedgemon and Leah Smith rounded out the action in the weight throw, both placing in the top 10. Hedgemon finished third with a toss of 15.93m (52'-03.25"), while Smith posted the seventh-best mark in program history at 12.72m (41'-08.75") to place ninth

  • The Generals are back in action on Feb 14-15 as they compete at the Joe LaRocco Invite on Saturday and the Virginia Tech Showdown on Sunday.
