LEXINGTON, Va. – Playing in their first home match of the 2026 spring season, the No. 33 Washington and Lee men's tennis fell by a 5-2 final against No. 11 Johns Hopkins.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Blue Jays (3-1) took the doubles point and claimed all three matches to start the day. First-years Todd Cannaliato and Pearce Lane paired at No. 3, with junior Heys Parker and first-year Justin Ilie at No. 1. Both tandems were edged by just two games.
- Parker (1) and sophomore Sahil Arora (4) highlighted singles play for the Blue and White with three-set wins each. Parker trailed by a set (6-2), before he won the second in a tiebreak (7-1), followed by a 10-point tiebreak win in the third (13-11). Arora also fell behind by a set (6-4) but rut roared back with a 6-3 win in the second and a 10-5 tiebreak win in the third.
- After getting the doubles point, Johns Hopkins won matches on courts 3, 4 and 2 to claim the team win. Dylan Blenkiron (6-2, 6-4) won at No. 3, Mukundh Boopathi (6-2, 6-3) came out on top at No. 4 and Allen Gong was a 6-2, 6-2 victor on No. 2.
- Junior Sanjheev Rao completed the Generals' singles lineup, rounding out the match at No. 6. Johns Hopkins' Jason Li earned the final team point of the match over Rao, 6-3, 6-4.
