Women’s Track & Field Posts a Pair Top Ten Updates at VMI Invitational

LEXINGTON, Va. - The Washington and Lee University women's track and field team posted a pair of top ten program updates on Friday at the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) Invitational.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • Camille Gillum secured the lone first-place finish for the Blue and White, clearing a season-best height of 1.67m (5'-05.75") in the high jump. Her mark currently ranks sixth in Division III this season.
  • Kaia Beddows, Ana Hodneland, Lucie Graziano, and Jesma Evans teamed up in the 4x400m relay and clocked the third-fastest time in program history, crossing the finish line in 4:05.09. That time currently ranks 27th in the nation this season.
  • Reese Brown and Mad McMurphy each turned in second-place finishes on the afternoon. Brown claimed silver in the 3,000m after clocking a time of 10:30.68, while McMurphy cleared a height of 3.50m (11'-05.75") in the pole vault.
  • Bailey Hedgemon recorded a toss of 16.01m (52'-06.50") in the weight throw to finish third. Emily Jackson and Leah Smith both competed in the shot put on Friday and finished within the top 10. Jackson placed sixth with a mark of 11.24m (36'-07.50"), while Smith recorded a personal-best toss of 10.55m (34'-07.50") to finish ninth, which ranks as the 10th-best mark in program history.
  • Olivia D'Ambrosia and Ana Hodneland also posted personal-best performances in the 200m. Hodneland clocked a time of 27.15s, while D'Ambrosia finished in 27.50s.
