W&L Men Fall to No. 14 Johns Hopkins and No. 13 TCNJ in Tri-Meet

BALTIMORE, Md. — The Washington and Lee University men's swimming team competed in a scored tri-meet against two nationally ranked opponents on Saturday afternoon, falling 182–80 to No. 14 Johns Hopkins University and 178.5–83.5 to No. 13 The College of New Jersey at the Hopkins Tri-Meet.

Despite the pair of non-conference losses, the Generals earned three event victories overall and produced strong times against the top-15 competition. Senior Dalton Jobe led W&L with three event wins on the day, while the Generals added runner-up finishes in both relay and individual events to remain competitive throughout the meet.


Up Next: Washington and Lee returns home on Saturday, January 17, hosting a Senior Day tri-meet at the W&L Natatorium. The Generals will face Randolph-Macon College and Chowan University, with competition slated to begin at noon.

Notable Performances

  • Dalton Jobe paced the Generals by sweeping the 200 freestyle, 100 freestyle, and 200 individual medley, accounting for all three of W&L's event victories against the ranked field.
  • Leighton Chapman finished second in the 50 freestyle (21.08) and added a third-place showing in the 100 freestyle (46.72).
  • Harrison Cerone recorded a podium finish in the 100 breaststroke, placing third with a time of 57.44.
  • The 200 freestyle relay team of Chapman, Charles Byars, Thomas Denton, and Jobe placed second overall in 1:24.54.
