BLACKSBURG, Va. – The No. 14 Washington and Lee men's cross country team was the lone Division III program in the field at the Virginia Tech Invitational on Friday evening, placing third overall with 96 points. The Generals finished behind host Virginia Tech (15) and Radford (66), while outpacing Division II institutions West Virginia Wesleyan (104), Emory & Henry (119), and UVa-Wise (149).
Virginia Tech controlled the race, sweeping the top five scoring positions with freshman Nathan Atchue taking the individual title in 18:08.3. W&L countered with a pair of top-15 finishers, as sophomore Sam Daunt placed 10th overall in 18:35.0 and sophomore William Dunaway followed in 11th at 18:37.3.
Wyatt Benjamin added a 29th-place finish (19:42.8), with Teddy Meredith (34th, 20:05.7) and Jack Camp (44th, 21:05.0) rounding out the scoring five. Ethan Khouri (45th, 21:06.1) and John Hogan (46th, 21:23.4) completed the top seven.
