LEXINGTON, Va. — The accolades continue for the Washington and Lee University men's golf team as the Generals swept the major honors and placed five student-athletes on the 2025 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) College Division All-State Men's Golf Teams, the organization announced Wednesday morning.

Sophomore Jonathan McEwen was named VaSID Player of the Year, first-year Timothy Kaufman earned Rookie of the Year, and Pete Gyscek was voted Coach of the Year after guiding W&L to one of its most historic seasons to date.

McEwen's latest honor adds to a decorated season in which he was named the NCAA Division III Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year, the ODAC Player of the Year, and a PING First Team All-American. He finished 10th at the NCAA Division III Championship and won five individual titles, including the ODAC Championship, where he set both the school and conference 54-hole scoring record at 12-under. He led Division III with a 68.5 adjusted scoring average and broke W&L's single-season marks for birdies (121), par-or-better rounds (22), and average score per round (69.5).

Kaufman burst onto the national stage in his debut season, securing VaSID Rookie of the Year and a spot on the All-State First Team. He placed 26th at the NCAA Championship and was named the ODAC Rookie of the Year, First Team All-ODAC, PING All-Region, and a Third Team All-American. Kaufman compiled a 71.4 adjusted scoring average, totaled 90 birdies, and finished in the top 25 in the Clippd national rankings.

In his 13th season, Gyscek earned VaSID Coach of the Year for the second time after leading W&L to three team tournament titles, a No. 1 national ranking, and a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Division III Championship. Under his guidance, the Generals shattered 13 program team records in 2024-25, including team scoring average (288.0), par or better rounds (16-of-26), birdies (484), and eagles (20).
