CLAREMONT, Calif. – The championship bracket of the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Singles Tournament was revealed on Thursday, and Washington and Lee senior Evan Erb drew Denison's Jacob Patterson in a first round matchup.

Erb, ranked No. 37 in the nation in the most recent ITA national poll, will face-off against Patterson, ranked 20th, on Friday at 1:00 p.m. ET/10:00 a.m. PT in the NCAA Championship first round. The tournament's first two rounds will be played on Friday, followed by the quarterfinals on Saturday, semifinals on Sunday and the championship match on Monday. All matches will be held at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, Calif.

Erb enters this year's tournament with a 14-6 record in singles play with a 3-3 mark in tournament format. Included in his singles record was an 11-3 ledger at No. 1 singles, while Patterson, a First Team All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) selection, is 24-10 overall. Patterson has won 5-of-8 matches in tournament play and was mostly featured as Denison's No. 2 or No. 3 option in dual match play, going 16-6 combined across the two spots.

W&L and Denison met in the regular season at the Ohio Invite in Cleveland in March, but Patterson and Erb did not play against each other. However, Erb and Patterson did meet at the Denison Invite back in September in both players' first action of the season. Patterson edged Erb by a final of 1-6, 6-2, 1-0 (7).

The advancing player in the Erb/Patterson match will see either either Advik Mareedu of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps or Gage Gohl of Gustavus Adolphus at 5:00 p.m. ET/2:00 p.m. PT in the second round. Mareedu, who has won each of the last two ITA Cup Singles Championships, is 36-1 in singles this season and 32-0 against Division III opponents. Gohl will be making his first career NCAA Singles Championship appearance this season behind a 19-8 record this season.
