GREENSBORO, N.C. – Once again,
Jonathan McEwen etched his name in the record books and the No. 1-ranked Washington and Lee University men's golf team delivered a stellar final-round performance to finish second overall at the 2025 ODAC Men's Golf Championship, held at Forest Oaks Country Club (Par 72, 7,013 yards).
W&L fired a tournament-best 11-under-par 277 on Wednesday, climbing two spots on the leaderboard to close the championship at 869 (+5), just behind No. 8 Lynchburg (-5, 859). The Generals shaved 11 strokes off their second-round total and posted one of only three under-par rounds played during the entire tournament. The Generals were also the only team in the tournament to have all five players record a round of par or better, doing so during their tournament-best third round.

McEwen capped his wire-to-wire victory with a final-round 67 (-5), finishing at 204 (-12) to break the ODAC Championships and W&L 54-hole individual scoring record. The sophomore surpassed the previous mark of 205 set in 2023 on the very same course by Guilford College's Sam Davidson. The league first implemented a 54-hole championship format in 2007.
After the tournament, the ODAC released its postseason awards and Washington and Lee earned a haul of postseason accolades following its runner-up finish at the 2025 ODAC Men's Golf Championship.
Jonathan McEwen was named the ODAC Golfer of the Year after winning the individual title and setting a new championship scoring record, while
Pete Gyscek was voted the Jack Jensen Coach of the Year and first-year
Timothy Kaufman received ODAC Rookie of the Year honors. McEwen, Kaufman, and senior
Elias Malakoff were named to the All-ODAC First Team, and W&L placed three players—McEwen, Kaufman, and
Charlie Krasnewich—inside the Top-18 to earn Championship Honoree recognition and McEwen was named All-Tournament for being one of the first six on the individual leaderboard. Junior
Turner Edwards, playing as a marker, was recognized to the ODAC Sportsmanship team.
